I saw Obsession twice in the theaters. First time was with my sixteen year old son, the second time with my eighteen year old son. Both of my dudes felt compelled to go partially because the movie had become such a must-see among their peer groups, a genuine cultural event. A lot of reasons for this, I think. Some of which I’m sure I’m too old and square to catch onto.
But I did catch onto one major reason for the film’s massive success, which I think is worth discussing from a screenwriting perspective.
It has to do with, well, morality. Spoilers below.
