The Yale Review

Ten years ago, when I first began submitting to literary journals, many of these journals had very forbidding websites. The site would be nothing more than a table of contents—a record of the pieces that were being published in some print journal.

And one of the most forbidding of these websites belonged to The Yale Review. This journal not only had a very minimalist site, but it also did not accept electronic submissions. If you wanted to be in this journal, you needed to print out your story and submit it to them by paper.
