Mankind now makes most things better. There are some possible exceptions: much music and art, perhaps, and maybe also functioning liberal democracies. Culture and politics aside, examples of material regression are less evident. One can think possibly of Roman marine concrete, in some ways superior to its modern incarnation, or the sound of a Stradivarius, which continues to defy ready reproduction.
