Does the Hall of Fame Need a Steroid-Era Redo?

This weekend in Cooperstown, New York, two talented center fielders—Carlos Beltrán and Andruw Jones—will officially become Baseball Hall of Famers, alongside slugging second baseman Jeff Kent. Kenny Lofton will not. Lofton played center, too, and was teammates with Jones and Kent. But he won’t be with them and the legion of living Hall of Famers who’ll attend this Sunday’s induction ceremony. Lofton had Cooperstown-caliber stats. Unfortunately for him, he also had horrible Cooperstown timing.
