Should We Be Scared of Sharks?

So far this year, according to TrackingSharks.com, there have been 30 recorded shark attacks worldwide. Seven were fatal.

Shark attack numbers rise and fall from year to year, and while 2025 brought more fatalities than 2024, it wasn’t without precedent. The United States again led the world with 25 unprovoked attacks, accounting for more than a third of the global total and confirming its status as the shark-attack capital nobody asked for. This is the sort of information that makes you wonder whether sharks have recently discovered social media and are now organizing themselves.
