Interview: Emmalea Russo & Emma Burger

In November of last year, I had a conversation for Zona Motel with the brilliant Emmalea Russo about her debut novel, Vivienne. Russo is prolific. Not only is she a gifted novelist, but also a poet, an astrologer, an artist, and a teacher. In the short time since Vivienne was published, she’s not only come out with her second novel, The Moon Papers, but has also designed and is currently teaching a yearlong online class on dreams called Dream School. I’ve had the privilege of dropping in on said class, which was a fascinating look into the psychology of dreams as it relates to art, astrology, and more. Emmalea brings an ethereal, otherworldly lens to everything she does – from books to poetry to teaching. Since the release of her debut, I’ve become a true fan of her work, and feel very lucky to have had the chance to talk to her over the internet about her second novel, The Moon Papers.
