One morning this spring, Julia Turshen arrived at Sleeping Giant Ice Cream, which is halfway between the towns of Ellenville and New Paltz, in a beat-up gray pickup emblazoned with the words “Two Peas Farm, Sungold, NY” on the side, and I started to worry.
