Standing On Business

I am not a big fan of the “churn it out” model of content creation. Writers are not machines, and even fields need to sometimes lie fallow. Taking a break is good for an artist. To be unnaturally bonded to one’s work, as the Marist priest Thomas Dubay said, “relegates the person to the level of means. A machine is a pure means. A person is not.”

That being said, on days when I don’t write, I feel like dogshit.
