The Playboy Interview: Maya Angelou

In 1999, former Playboy editor Murray Fisher traveled to the East Coast to speak with the legendary American poet Maya Angelou. Their conversation, intended to be a Playboy Interview, never ran; the copy was misfiled and forgotten for twenty years until it was rediscovered by archivists. Novelist Edwidge Danticat introduced this “lost” dialogue for its first appearance in our Winter 2019 print issue. Now, as we bring this remarkable piece of history online, it serves as a bridge to a voice that remains as vital and urgent as ever.
