We all need friends. Unchosen solitude and isolation are among the worst ailments that political animals such as human beings can face. And yet getting friendship right is not easy. Deirdre McCloskey once told me that love, in the broad sense, is not easy to find. This may sound like a contradiction, since we are constantly bombarded by it. It is everywhere in our culture: music, movies, video games, you name it. But who can truly say they have it?
