Return of the Goddess

In 16th century Rome, the Italian philosopher and occultist Giordano Bruno was famously burned alive for his beliefs. The mainstream explanation for why Bruno was set afire in Rome’s Campo de’ Fiori is that he was a martyr for science and the rational mindset. In truth, Bruno was killed for being a magician. Specifically, he was burned for preferring the ancient religion of the Egyptians, and declaring that their religious magic was greater than that of the Church.
