The New Hollywood Must-Have? The Status Ghostwriter

If you follow the increasingly intertwined worlds of celebrity and literature, you may have spotted a supermodel cozying up to a bestselling novelist or read about the three authors who helped Britney Spears craft her memoir, The Woman in Me. Ghostwriters, or in the more modern parlance, “book collaborators,” have long been employed by those whose name alone conjures a book deal. But in recent years, these once-anonymous figures have begun to crawl out of the acknowledgements section and into the spotlight as celebrities publicly align themselves with writers who lend literary prestige to their projects.
