Rosalía’s 'Lux' & the Analogia Entis

During my college years, I spent a semester abroad in Spain. My host was an elderly woman who specialized in taking in “problem students,” mainly those with restrictive dietary needs. Even now I cringe thinking of the distress I caused her as she tried to understand and accommodate my vegan diet. She loved Franco and disliked gitanos; I had a difficult time understanding how these things could coexist in someone who also seemed rather compassionate. She once asked why I did not eat meat and other animal products. When I responded, I could see that despite all the stress I was causing her, she cared and respected my response. She cried when I left and I was so young I did not understand that it was probably because she knew she would die before she would see me again.
