Writers Should Be Individuals

I had the pleasure this week of revisiting an article by George Packer which gave me great satisfaction several years ago when I first discovered it. Written in 2020 on the occasion of his winning the Hitchens Prize, which is given annually to a writer deemed capable of relinquishing “regard to personal or professional consequence,” it was printed in adapted form by The Atlantic several days later.
