There's a reason the “lost masterpiece” has become one of our moment’s favorite marketing angles, McNally Editions Executive Editor Jeremy M. Davies said in an interview last week. In discovering an author who wasn’t recognized during their lifetime, reissues make readers feel as if they’re righting the scales of history. It’s a feeling that motivates our editors, too: “There’s a nourishing philosophical and social part of what we do,” Davies said. “Isn't it wonderful to be able to champion someone who didn't get a fair shake?”
