Not a Trend, a Tradition

Much has been written of late about the new phenomenon of artists and avant-garde urbanites converting to Catholicism. This “new” movement has received coverage in the NY Times, the Free Press, and the New York Post. But the most notable thing about this trend is that it isn’t new at all. Since modernity began, artists have been shocking the fashionable world by becoming Catholic converts.
