Forgetting Atticus Finch

July will mark the ten-year anniversary of the publication of Go Set a Watchman, Harper Lee’s long-lost first novel that also functions as a sequel To Kill a Mockingbird — the Pulitzer Prize-winning bestseller that was adapted into an Oscar-winning film starring Gregory Peck and, well, you know. Readers have been ambivalent about Watchman. In terms of style, the novel has been deemed a far lesser achievement than its predecessor.
