Ivory Ghosts

The headlines rarely surprise me anymore. The world we live in is off its rocker and I’ve become desensitized to it. That might be a bad thing, but that’s just the way things are now. I rarely start out of my seat over a news item. However, last year I remember one specific headline that raised my blood-pressure and ruined the rest of my  evening. This headline was an announcement that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service was extending a federal deadline to further consider their decision to declare the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker as officially extinct.
