America’s Prophet

Cormac McCarthy died at his home in Santa Fe last Tuesday at the age of 89. He was our greatest living novelist, an apocalyptic prophet and diviner of violence, and will forever stand with the likes of Melville and Faulkner as the chief American mythmaker of his time.
