Halfway through the second half of the semifinal between Argentina and Croatia, Lionel Messi received the ball on the right flank just past the halfway line. He found himself one on one with the Croatian center back Joško Gvardiol, one of the best defenders of the tournament. Keeping the ball characteristically close to his feet, the 35-year-old Messi accelerated and dribbled right past the twenty-year-old.
