Smoke Signals

If you are a contemporary flaneur, a connoisseur of street life – masked and suppressed though it was for two years – you have likely noticed peculiar signage cropping up in the Metropolis for some time now. Storefronts proliferate with indefinite names like “Sunnyside,” “Columbia Care,” “Ascend,” “etain,” and “RISE.” The fonts on their signs are sans serif, minimal. It seems as though they are advertising… a bank? An insurance company? A cellphone store? Something in tech…? But then you peer through the window. The surfaces of the sleek interior reveal nothing, until your eye alights on a jar. You squint at its contents. It looks like it’s full of… ganja?
