In many novels, characters deal with sex and love and obsession, or any combination thereof, but few abandon themselves to passion. At least not to an overwhelming, life-threatening passion: The type of passion that rises to a frenzy and brings about a loss of both moral compass and critical faculties, and compromises their mental stability.
