News from Gotham City: two writers for D.C. Comics, the home of Superman, Batman and the Flash, have quit work on their book Batwoman. The writers, J.H. Williams and W. Halden Blackman, have stepped down because their bosses at D.C. imposed several changes on Batwoman, including refusing to allow the character to have a gay wedding. To be clear: Batwoman, who a few years ago was re-imagined as a woman named Kate Kane, has been gay for the entire modern series run. That’s not the problem – the problem, at least accord to D.C. corporate, is the depiction of a gay wedding.
