Does Pope Francis Read Dostoevsky?

In Dostoevsky’s novel The Idiot, Prince Myshkin, the hero, sees a copy of Holbein’s picture The Body of the Dead Christ in the Tomb (a detail of which is shown above). “Looking at that painting,” he says, “might make one lose one’s faith.”
