Move Over, Noah's Ark

I was just intrigued by something I had read in the press about 15 years ago....Astronomers...discovered that the cores of the Earth...much faster than the rest of the planet...Where is all this energy being stored? And if it's being stored at the center of the Earth, is there a possibility that it could be released to the perimeter all at once?
