I have no memory of believing in Santa Claus, only of wanting to, sort of, and of pretending to, at least for a time, because it seemed the sporting thing to do. So now that Iâ??m a parent, Iâ??m curious about what might look and feel like Christmas magic to my three-year-old son, and, soon enough, my baby daughter. Iâ??m also eager to foster holiday traditions that are actually sustainable while working and city-dwelling and caring for two small childrenâ??trying to avoid complicated logistics, late-night baking sessions, or anything else that might result in yelling, resentment, and tears.
